David Pitcher has been a member of the Executive Committee since 1998 and was Honorary Secretary 2003-2010 and following that, Vice Chairman 2010-2012. His most recent positions at the Council have been as President from 2012 to June 2015 and subsequently Vice President from June 2015 to June 2016. He has contributed to the development of the Advanced Life Support (ALS) course, including editing of and writing chapters for serial editions of the manual. He has been the RC (UK)’s lead on Decisions relating to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and is currently co-chair of the ReSPECT Project Working Group. His clinical role has been as a cardiologist with an interest in cardiac arrhythmia, sudden death and inherited cardiac conditions. He retired from clinical practice in 2015.
