The core Resuscitation Council UK staff is led by our Chief Executive Officer and managed by a Senior Management Team. With a wealth of experience in policy, clinical affairs, administration, IT, finance, communications and more, the staff base put Resuscitation Council UK’s projects into action.
Dr James Cant joined RCUK as CEO in September 2019. Prior to that, he was Director of Devolved Nations at the British Heart Foundation, was Head of Scotland and Northern Ireland at British Lung Foundation and previously held civil servant roles within the Ministry of Defence and Scottish Government.
With a specific interest in driving strategy and improving cardiac arrest survival rates, James is steering RCUK into a new chapter of development.
Sue Hampshire has worked for RCUK since 2012. Her role includes the management of Resuscitation Council UK’s courses and involvement in related projects. Since taking up her post she has worked on the development and improvement of new and existing courses. She has also worked closely with ALSG to redesign and develop the jointly run GIC. Sue is involved in the organisation of Resuscitation Council UK events, and has organised resuscitation training sessions at the British Cardiac Society and Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health conferences. Before joining RCUK, Sue worked as a Senior Resuscitation Officer in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Paul White has been with Resuscitation Council UK since August 2013. Paul oversees RCUK’s business operations, which includes programme management, information technology, data protection and finance.
Paul has worked in the not for profit sector for over 20 years, as an IT Director, Membership Manager, Project Manager and IT Manager, delivering multiple change projects to web services, IT infrastructure and membership systems. Paul is a PRINCE2® and AgilePM® practitioner and a professional member of the British Computer Society.
Andrea Ttofa joined Resuscitation Council UK in June 2020. Andrea oversees RCUK’s engagement and influencing activities, which include increasing awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and the need for effective resuscitation, building external relationships and partnership opportunities, and being responsible for the organisation’s brand, internal and external communications.
Over the last 15 years, Andrea has held various communications, marketing and PR roles in the not for profit and NHS sectors. Before joining RCUK she was NHS Blood and Transplant’s Head of Organ Donation Marketing and prior to that, the organisation’s Head of Media and PR.
