Frequently asked questions

ILS course candidates

The ILS course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, ODPs, cardiac technicians, ROs, healthcare providers such as physiotherapists, dental nurses, dentist and ambulance technicians. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers.
The provider certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of your course.
Contact your course centre; they will provide you with a replacement certificate.

You may recertify by attending the 1-day ILS course or the half-day ILS recertification course. The half-day recertification course is not recommended if more than one year has passed since your certificate expiry date.

You have one year from the expiry date of your certificate within which to recertify.

The route to becoming an ILS Instructor begins by attending the ILS Provider course. The faculty may nominate a candidate for Instructor Potential selection at the final faculty meeting. If you are selected and wish to pursue the training you must attend an ILS Instructor (ILSi) course.
Yes. Candidates attending the course may claim five points.

Faculty teaching on the course may also claim five points but no more than ten points in any one year.

The payment of any course fees is a contract between the candidate and course centre. The Resuscitation Council (UK) has no jurisdiction over the payment and/or potential refund of fees. Complaints regarding fees should be made directly to the course centre.
